A “mistral storm” is coming to Sardinia, accompanied by storm surges and cold with plummeting temperatures.

This is what the experts from the Air Force Weather Office in Decimomannu predict, underlining how the high pressure that persists over the island is destined to weaken from this evening, Thursday 19 December , "thus leaving room for a depression associated with a strong influx of cold air, instability and gale-force winds".

In detail, in the next few hours a sudden worsening of the weather will arrive, with the entry of the mistral which will have an average intensity of 80 kilometers per hour, but with peaks of 120 on the western areas of the island.

They are expected   also storm surges along the exposed western coasts, rain showers and snow above 800 metres.

Temperatures, as mentioned, will plummet: the maximum will not exceed 12 degrees, the minimum between 2 and 3 degrees, especially in inland areas.

However, this should only be a brief period of “very cold” : starting on Saturday, temperatures will return to the seasonal average and the weather will turn nice.
