Micro earpiece in the ear, mini camera in the shape of a shirt button: this is the equipment used by five aspiring motorists discovered, together with a prompter who operated from the outside, by the traffic police at the Civil Motorization of Sassari. With this ploy they tried to pass the theoretical driving license exam.

Five reported in one month, therefore. Plus one trapped prompter and another unidentified: numbers that suggest that there is an organized system behind it. So much so that the agents are checking whether other cases may have been registered.

The first to be discovered and reported was a twenty-four year old, last June 21st. The officers intervened during the theory test. The young man, with the help of a micro earpiece inside his ear, obtained the right answers from the prompter who, using a "button-shaped" micro-camera positioned on his shirt, framed the monitor with the questions being examined , providing the boy with the correct answers.

The police, who intervened immediately after the incident , carried out searches for the accomplice in the surrounding streets, tracking down a seventy-four year old who was waiting in his car for the end of the exam to recover the electronic equipment used by the young man.

During the search of the vehicle, other cell phones, SIM cards, numerous micro earphones and micro cameras, adhesive tape and various shirts were found, of the same type as the one worn by the boy.

On 8 July a similar incident involved four non-EU citizens. In this case the accomplice does not appear to have been identified.

The investigations continue.
