Five parades from February 12th to 17th. This year's most important innovation is dedicated to impromptu masks.Tens of thousands of people are expected in Tempio Pausania for the 2026 edition of Lu Carrasciali. Today, Tempio Mayor Gianni Addis, Councilor Elizabeth Vargiu, and the organizers of the Sei Giorni presented the event. There will be five parades, one more than in the past, from February 12th to 17th . The "carrascialai" are working to create the masks that will be the protagonists of the festival. In addition to King George and Mannena, work is underway to create ten competing floats, including those from the Aggius and Badesi groups.
This year's most significant innovation is dedicated to impromptu masks . For the first time, a parade dedicated to them is planned for Saturday, February 14th. On that occasion, the route will deviate from Piazza Gallura.
There will be five parades: the first on February 12th, Fat Thursday, with the entrance into the city of His Majesty King George; the second on Saturday the 14th, dedicated to impromptu masks; the third on Sunday the 15th with the wedding between King George and his fiancée Mannena; and the fourth on Monday, February 16th, dedicated to children. The grand finale will be on Tuesday, February 17th with the trial and burning at the stake of the ruler of the Six Days. Approximately four thousand participants are expected.
During the six-day event, Tempio will be decked out in festive attire; every corner of the historic center will be dedicated to Lu Carrasciali. Balconies, terraces, doorways, windows, squares, and shop windows will host giant posters, photographs, cardboard cutouts, papier-mâché figures, and costumes from yesteryear. The motto is "Lu Carasciali is lived, not looked at!"
