It will be called "Largo Gigi Riva" and will be built in Taccu, right in front of the house where Giacomo Deiana, the owner of "Stella Marina di Montecristo", the Cagliari restaurant where Gigi Riva dined every evening for over thirty years , grew up.

The road named after him will on one side run alongside the recently restored sports field which from the intersection with Via San Sebastiano leads back to the small country church of Sant'Antonio, while on the other it will look towards Mount Santa Vittoria and the countryside of the small Barbagia town. Esterzili also wants to pay homage to the man loved by everyone, who became a legend , a master of sport and life, a symbol of values on and off the pitch.

Man even before the Myth. Luigi who grows up quickly, becoming the Legend for a people and for that Island that he initially saw as too far from his Leggiuno, for Cagliari now his home, for a land of which he has always loved to enjoy the scents, the flavors and the colors and the people. « Every tribute to my father does nothing but increase the awareness in me that he was not just a football player, but much, much more and that he really left a lot to Sardinia », comments his son Nicola Riva, who, he assures, will everything to participate in the dedication.

« Every day we receive a proposal, the desire and will from his people to pay homage to him and remember him and for us it is a source of great pride , but I am sure that his figure and his memory will grow and will remain forever in the heads and hearts of Sardinians and beyond."

In the Municipality's project, to underline the importance of the same street, two blow-ups will also be created depicting "Rombo di Tuono" in the field . They will be posted on the external walls of the grandstand for the public who will overlook the sports field. «We are completing all the bureaucratic aspects, once we have obtained the authorizations we will proceed immediately with the naming», assures the mayor Renato Melis , «in the meantime we have already contracted the works to asphalt the stretch of road that leads to the Sant' Antonio, but the updating of the toponymy will also concern the establishment of the new via Nuxanuedda which from Piazza San Teodoro leads to the place of the same name and the rectification of via Domu de Orgia in its original name: Domu 'e Urxia.
