In Laconi, restoration work has begun on the chapel of Sant'Ignazio , in the parish church: it is one of the most symbolic places in the town and a destination for many pilgrims. The project was financed by the Region and entrusted to the Comunità Montana Sarcidano Barbagia di Seulo , as part of a broader program for the recovery of religious and cultural assets.

"The intervention is necessary and urgent due to the serious state of degradation of several marble slabs that cover the entire wall beneath the mosaics created in the 1960s by mosaic artist Angelo Gatto - explains Mayor Salvatore Argiolas - A few days ago an inspection was carried out in the presence of the potential designer and the official of the Superintendency, with the aim of evaluating the feasibility and type of intervention that could define the partial replacement of the degraded slabs if not the replacement of all of them with others similar in color and characteristics, but with a higher capacity for resistance to the natural degradation of the stones".

"We will carefully follow all the phases - concludes Argiolas - well aware that it is certainly necessary to intervene but also that the importance of the Chapel dedicated to Sant'Ignazio, a highly symbolic and identifying site, must not undergo any significant modification ".
