Life and career in abeyance for ten years, existence ruined by an accusation, for a man and a doctor, infamous. The radiologist Massimo Biagi, from spring 2012 until Wednesday afternoon, lived every day of his life with a thought that takes away sleep and serenity. The specialist was accused of having sexually assaulted an 82-year-old patient during an ultrasound scan in the Paolo Merlo hospital in La Maddalena. The Tribunal of Tempio (college chaired by magistrate Camilla Tesi) acquitted Biagi with the broadest formula: because the fact does not exist. After ten years, the judges established that the facts as indicated in the indictment never took place.

Endless investigations and proceedings, lasting ten years (the real penalty inflicted), actually swept away the content of the original complaint, delivering to the judges a new version of the facts, terrible for the victim and for the conscience of those who, always being at the trial, he let Massimo Biagi into a cage built with slander and slander, all described and revealed by the trial.

The non-existent complaints

Massimo Biagi, says the trial, in December 2011, visits an elderly patient who has had alarming bleeding. Internal bleeding is feared and the pensioner must undergo an ultrasound. The ultrasound probe is used on the abdomen and groin. A niece of the patient attends the visit. A few months later a complaint is filed for sexual assault. The granddaughter of the pensioner, according to the records of the trial, decides to report, after hearing people who work in the Paolo Merlo hospital. The woman probably has doubts about what she saw during her aunt's medical examination. But someone takes them away, telling her that Biagi already has other complaints and reports against. Someone puts the burden of ninety on us: Biagi's burden has several files with the complaints of the patients. A few words said at the right time and the radiologist ends up in the abyss. But those complaints do not exist, those files are a lie and the ASL of Olbia, at the request of the defenders of Biagi (Luca Sechi and Sergio Oggiano), denies the existence of any procedure or report against the radiologist. It took ten years to fix it, assuming it can be remedied.
