The letterhead of the European Commission is dated June 3, 2024 , subject "aid for the launch of new air routes to and from airports in the Sardinia region" . More than six months later , however, that incentive package authorized by Brussels is still unused.

There is only a draft of the call for tenders to distribute 30 million euros – this is the amount agreed with the EU – to airlines and thus expand the network of international connections. It is known that, more or less , 50 routes will be included, distributed across the three Sardinian airports . And that there will also be some intercontinental flights , such as those to New York and other American cities. But the documents have not yet been published : at this point it is essentially impossible for the Region's plan to have an impact on the winter season. That is, the period in which air connections go into hibernation, and with them the holiday industry. It will be discussed, at most, in the summer. When there is certainly no need for contributions to fly to Sardinia.

The tender , halfway between the competences of two departments (Tourism and Transport) could be put on the track in January . Provided that some knots are resolved. Such as, for example, those on the companies that will be able to benefit from the aid .
