In Sardinia 13 new Knights of the Republic, appointed by President Sergio Mattarella.

The award ceremony was held this morning in Cagliari, in the presence of the Prefect Giuseppe Castaldo .

The Knight's diplomas were awarded to:

  • Giovanni Perra, technical assistant in service at the Western Maritime Command
  • Angelo Giuseppe Mangano, Inspector Director of Machinery at the Naval Maneuver Station of the Guardia di Finanza in Cagliari
  • Giampaolo Marongiu, Commander of the Financial Police Flying Operations Section - Iglesias Company
  • Agnese Delogu, retired employee of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia
  • Stefano Porcu, technical director of the Paracanoe Sector of the Italian Canoe Kayak Federation
  • Aldo Bruni, retired superintendent of the State Police
  • Angelo Ninu, retired senior inspector of the State Police
  • Gabriele Mereu, medical director of the Cagliari Local Health Authority
  • Roberto Loche, medical officer of the Italian Army serving at the Military Department of Forensic Medicine in Cagliari
  • Alessio Gabriele Degortes, deputy commander of the Military Command of the Army of Sardinia.

Also during the ceremony, Maria Antonietta Mongiu , archaeologist and president of the Scientific Committee for Insularity, and Enzo Floridia , president of the Territorial Commission for the recognition of international protection of Cagliari, were awarded the honor of Commander of the Order of Merit of the Republic.

The honor of Knight Grand Cross was awarded to Giorgio Falconi , a retired public manager.

Furthermore, the Medals of Honor were awarded in memory of Biagio Di Caro and Alessandro Onnis, Italian citizens deported to Germany and interned in Nazi concentration camps during the Second World War and destined for forced labor for the war economy, collected by their respective families.
