Against the presence of military bases in Sardinia. But also against the wars that are bloodied the world. Also because the "invasion" of the island and the ongoing conflicts are connected, according to the A Foras committee, which is calling a counter-demonstration for June 2nd on Republic Day.

This year's slogan is “A Foras Is bases po is gherras aglianas,” meaning: away with the bases for other people's wars.

"We are facing an unprecedented intensification of imperialist war. The Zionist entity, the armed wing of the US empire," a statement reads, " has extended its genocidal policies to Lebanon and Iran, with the complicity of Europe and especially Italy, which the Zionist government has repeatedly described as one of 'Israel's' greatest allies due to the countless economic and military agreements it continues to enter into with it."

The same Italy, "which colonized our Sardinia, turning it into a military base for imperialist armies and a holiday resort for tourists, would like us to celebrate 'Republic Day' on June 2nd? We're not in favor of that," is A Foras' response.

The aim of the antimilitarist association is to "reclaim our land and our ties with the other peoples of the Mediterranean, breaking with those who continue to poison our land, extract our resources, erase our culture and force us to emigrate, joining the struggle that has been fought for centuries by other colonised peoples against our own enemy: colonialism, imperialism, NATO and the US-EU-Israel axis".

The announced solution is "anti-imperialist struggle, the only means for self-determination and the ability to finally build a functioning healthcare system, universal education, employment without exploitation, and an economy that serves the people of Sardinia, fighting gender oppression and the repression of racialized communities; to build relationships with our neighboring peoples based on solidarity and not mutual domination."

The procession is called for June 2nd at 4pm in Marina Piccola.
