An illegal cannabis plantation : this is what the Carabinieri discovered in San Gavino Monreale , in a rural area, with a 41-year-old in trouble .

The man, a local farmer , was unmasked thanks to images taken by the police helicopters involved in the investigation.

The breeder initially tried to justify the presence of the plants by showing the military a large amount of documentation and stating that the crops were of sativa nature and, therefore, legal. However, the analyses of the Scientific Investigations Department (RIS) confirmed the presence of a high THC content, outside the permitted limits.

The man attempted to defend himself by producing a land rental contract and declaring that he had no involvement in illegal cultivation . However, checks conducted by the Carabinieri also unmasked the validity of the contract, which turned out to be false and never registered with the competent offices : the other party to the alleged agreement, in fact, had no knowledge of the document.

Further searches of the area then allowed the discovery of branches with hemp inflorescences for a total net weight of almost 50 kilograms. In addition, 130 hemp plants cultivated for illicit purposes were found , and an electronic scale, presumably used for weighing the drug.

All the material found was seized and made available to the Office of the Crime Scene Investigation of the Court of Cagliari for further investigation.

The man, once the control operations and the formal procedures were completed, was arrested and subjected to the precautionary measure of house arrest at his home , pending the validation hearing set for this morning at the court of Cagliari.
