The intensification of controls by the Forestry Corps and environmental supervisors against those who do not respect the rules has recently led, and only in the Municipality of Tortolì, to the imposition of eight fines.

There are several cases of bad habits and incorrect use which cause, among other things, the disfigurement of Sardinia's environmental assets: there are those who take possession of sand, pebbles or shells to bring to the "mainland" as souvenirs, those who exchange rocks or the rocks for a canvas on which to give vent to one's presumed artistic abilities, and those who think that owning or renting a camper allows them to stay overnight wherever they like.

Among other things, the law provides for the prohibition of free camping outside the open-air accommodation facilities or equipped temporary parking areas.

In the areas authorized to park campers in particular, the minimum equipment must be guaranteed, such as drainage wells, drinking water dispensers, an adequate lighting system, waste containers and last but not least, toponymic signs containing tourist information .

The Forestry Corps in particular has contested numerous violations for non-compliance with the prohibition of camping with campers, as provided for by art. 22 of Regional Law No. 16/2017, which provides for an administrative fine from a minimum of 100 to a maximum of 250 euros.

The offending campers have chosen postcard places for their illicit overnight stay, from the Scogli Rossi square in Arbatax, to the Capannina beach, or even the wonderful Foxilioni beach.
