A historic snowfall hit Sardinia yesterday . It was forecast, but not so heavy, especially in the middle of autumn.

The greatest disruption occurred in Barbagia, throughout the Nuoro area, in the Oristano area, in upper Gallura (where several centimeters of snow covered Mount Limbara), and in the Mandrolisai area. On the other hand, there was an invasion of thousands of visitors to the heights of "Su Filariu" in Desulo and the towns of Gennargentu and Barbagia .

In Fonni, more than 20 centimetres fell , but "everything went well, the machine worked, the snowplows intervened promptly and there were no problems with traffic", explains the mayor Daniela Falconi.

The chairlift issue remains: "We hope to open in 2026; we have identified a company that will take us towards testing."

The inconveniences were offset by the many visitors who reached the heart of Sardinia, the damage and disruption that occurred in some areas. In Belvì, "dozens of chestnut trees and various crops," explains the mayor, Maurizio Cadau, "have been destroyed, and the damage to the sector is enormous."

In the Barbagia area of Seulo, snowplows and salt spreaders are out of service, with several vehicles experiencing disruption. And in Seulo, a power outage starting at 7:00 a.m. disrupted businesses, internet service, and heating.

The highest peaks of Montiferru were also blanketed in white, while in Bonarcado, where the snowfall was heavy, homes were left without electricity.
