A violent downpour hit Capoterra this afternoon. The rain took the Municipality by surprise , and, according to data from the rainfall stations of Sardegna Clima Aps, 93 millimetres of rain fell in a short time (40 mm on the hills opposite, at Poggio dei Pini).
A situation that has created inevitable inconvenience for citizens . A family in the historic center had to ask for help from the Civil Protection for a beginning flooding of the courtyard. In the center a tree fell and the manholes were uncovered by the force of the water. Mud in the street in via Cagliari in the area between via Assisi and via Siena. The mayor Beniamino Garau immediately visited the site and reassured: «The canals are holding up well with the water, the biggest problem was in the area of via Cagliari. A situation that occurs when the surface is dry because it hasn't rained for a long time». According to the mayor, parts of the asphalt also came off but «all in all we can't complain». However, the bad weather was concentrated in just one area, «in the coastal part of the territory not a single drop of water fell», Garau confirmed.
