Happy event on the beach of Cea: the hatching of the turtle eggs has begun
The video camera installed by the researchers of the Sinis Recovery Center in Cabras captured everythingHappy event last night in Ogliastra: the hatching of the eggs of the Caretta caretta turtle nest has begun on the Cea beach. Shortly after 11pm the first ten baby turtles safely made their way to the sea.
The event was immortalized by the video camera installed by the researchers of the Sinis Recovery Center in Cabras who coordinate the scientific monitoring activities of the regional network for the conservation of marine fauna.
The photo trap, at the first movement, immediately sent an image to the contacts of the network and to the personnel of the Naval Base of the Forestry Corps of Arbatax who activate the night monitoring and hatching control. At the moment it is not known how many eggs are deposited but they could reach up to two hundred. In the next few days, always during the night hours, the hatching will end.
The discovery of the nest had taken place last July 8, when two young people from Bari Sardo who were walking in the moonlight had sighted the turtle and notified 1515. The area had therefore been immediately reported and fenced off by Blon agents and had been activated the expected protocol. After 55 days the first turtles were born.
