In the ambulance, oxygen cylinders expired almost two years ago.
This is what emerged during a check by the NAS of the Carabinieri of Cagliari in the operational headquarters of a volunteer association in Guspini involved in the 118 emergency health service.
During the inspection, the military discovered that inside some ambulances there were five expired oxygen cylinders, with validity ending between October 2023 and February 2025. "A situation of considerable danger - reads a note from the Carabinieri - potentially harmful to the health of the citizens assisted, and in contrast with what is foreseen in the agreement stipulated by the association with the Regional Emergency-Urgency Company of Sardinia (AREUS)".
The cylinders were seized, with a total commercial value of approximately 2,000 euros, while the organization was ordered to suspend any rescue activity until the equipment was restored to conformity and safety. The association's pro-tempore president, a 63-year-old man living in Guspini, was identified as the person responsible for the violations.
The crime of trading or administration of spoiled medicines was reported to the competent Judicial Authority, with a request to also evaluate whether it could be configured as an interruption or disturbance of public service.
