The 151st Infantry Regiment of the Sassari Brigade has officially named Anna Scintu, a native of Guasila and granddaughter of Raimondo Scintu, a valiant corporal decorated with the Gold Medal for Military Valor during World War I, as its godmother. The appointment comes ahead of the mission in Lebanon under UNIFIL, where the "Dimonios" will be committed to peace and security in local communities.
"I am proud and happy that a person and friend like Anna has been honored with such a prestigious recognition," commented Mayor Paola Casula. "A woman of peace and values, she worked with the administration to keep the memory of Raimondo's deeds alive, including through the museum dedicated to him, recently expanded with new memorabilia thanks to the collaboration of local families."
Anna Scintu thus becomes a symbol of the link between the past, present, and future of the Sassari Brigade, between the historical memory of Sardinia and the military's commitment to peace.
