Ghilarza, head-on collision between two cars: road reopened but traffic still congested

The provincial road of Mandrolisai which from Ghilarza leads to Barigadu and the SS 131 dcn in the direction of Cagliari and Sassari has been reopened to traffic and closed for over 2 hours due to a road accident that occurred just before eight this morning near the shopping center Omodeo, at the gates of the town.

Two cars, a Fiat Punto and a Doblò Maxi carrying bread, probably due to a lack of precedence, collided violently head-on.

Of the four people involved, two were transported by 118 to the San Francesco hospital in Nuoro , with two ambulances. Their conditions would not be serious, but according to the rescuers they would still have suffered serious injuries.

The firefighters of the Abbasanta detachment and two patrols from the Ghilarza carabinieri mobile radio unit intervened on the spot.

The carabinieri themselves and the local police were involved in diverting traffic pending the completion of the cleaning and safety measures in the area affected by the accident.
