It is the first private center specialized in medically assisted procreation in Sardinia, a facility that offers women and Sardinian couples special techniques and services that public centers (on the island the Microcitemico of Cagliari, the polyclinic of Monserrato and the Aou of Sassari) do not provide. The Genera group clinic, located in Cagliari in via Jenner , will allow Sardinian couples to have access to all PMA techniques, including heterologous fertilization (with the donation of gametes, oocytes or spermatozoa, external to the couple), fertility preservation (with cryopreservation of gametes or social freezing, for personal reasons and not only medical), in addition to pre-implantation genetic testing on the embryo, for which until now women were forced to turn to facilities outside the island, in Italy or abroad .

A necessary service in a region of empty cradles , the black sheep of low birth rate and with the highest average age of women giving birth for the first time: 33 years old against the Italian average of 31 years old. Few children are born also and above all because women (couples) postpone pregnancy for reasons ranging from study, to the search for work, to career, to the difficulties - it must be said, given the very serious lack of services - of reconciling family and work.

"In Sardinia," says Professor Giovanni Monni, director of the Genera center , "we have the highest average age at childbirth in Italy, which means that Sardinian women begin their search for motherhood later than the Italian average and are therefore more exposed to the risk of encountering obstacles to conception. Our center is able to respond to all needs in terms of diagnosis and treatment of infertility in couples, offering for the first time in Sardinia the possibility of having access to pre-implantation genetic testing and gamete donation, an option that Sardinian couples have so far only been able to choose by moving to other regions or abroad. A nice message to finally be able to tell them that now there is no need to travel to make the dream of having a child come true."
