There are 32 buildings, all scattered along the narrow-gauge line, built in 1888. These are old stations, gatehouses and railway toll booths, involved in a recovery project, which involves eight municipalities of Marghine and Planargia, with Macomer as the lead partner, with the participation of the regional departments of public works and local authorities and the Arst.
All the old buildings will be subject to restyling interventions, to be transformed into inns, restaurants, post stations, points of sale of typical local products, bookshops, art exhibitions and cultural and nature conservation centers. A grandiose project, for which the Region had financed, at the time, a good 5 million euros. Funding that however no longer exists. A bitter surprise for the interested municipal administrators, but in particular for the Union of Municipalities of Marghine, who intended to start the project within this year.
"The Region, according to what we have been told, has cancelled the funding to allocate it to other things, since the final project was never presented - says the president of the Union of Municipalities, Franco Scanu, mayor of Sindia -. However, not all is lost. We have activated the relevant offices so that that funding can be recovered, it will certainly not be lost. However, this thing makes the times longer".
"The railway line and the historic buildings - underlines President Scanu - have both a strategic importance and a high tourist value".
