The Public Prosecutor of Sassari definitively closes the investigations, which lasted years, after the discovery, in Corsica, of the remains of the fugitive Quirico Carta . The recovery of a tooth fragment made it possible to extrapolate the genetic profile of man.

The deputy public prosecutor of Sassari, Giovanni Porcheddu, has requested the closure of the investigation for aiding and abetting, opened on the basis of information from the Carabinieri of the Compagnia di Ozieri, against several people who since 2008 (the year of the double attempted murder contested in Carta) would have helped the buddusoino to avoid capture. The investigation was conducted in Sardinia and Corsica.

Some family members and friends of Carta, exonerated, a man from Olbia, a Buddusoino and a breeder from Pattada (the latter have not been reported, but are mentioned in the documents) have entered the criminal file. The whole story of Carta emerges from the investigation. The man (already convicted of a murder) in February 2008 shoots two people in a bar in Buddusò , the victims are saved (one because the bullet aimed at the heart is stopped by the wallet) and Carta immediately disappears into thin air. The Carabinieri of the Compagnia di Ozieri are on the fugitive and find him in 2010 in a sheepfold in Pattada. The building is surrounded by soldiers, but the man manages to escape by jumping out a window. In 2012 he was sentenced by the Court of Sassari for the double attempted murder (16 years in prison) and moved to Corsica.

Since 2013 he has been bonding with a woman and goes to live in the south of the island, in the town of Cognocoli-Monticchi. The fugitive has all the forged identity documents, made out to a man who lives in the Nuoro area and is unaware of everything. Just as he knows nothing of Carta's past, his racing companion. On 31 January 2018, the man died of a heart attack in the hamlet of Marato. And it is the last act, according to the investigations, of Quirico Carta's fugitive.
