From Cala Regina to Mari Pintau, waste overlooking the sea: "Quantums of construction waste and garbage."

Dreamlike sea on one side, tons of waste on the other. This is the situation along the Quartu coast between the towns of Cala Regina and Mari Pintau.

The report comes from the Legal Intervention Group: "Too many environmental criminals, through their criminal activities, have transformed a steep ravine overlooking the sea at Cala Regina, on the coast of the municipality of Quartu, into a veritable landfill, almost filling it with all kinds of rubbish."

But the entire surrounding area is littered with piles of waste, environmentalists report. The most notable is the one prominently displayed in the bed of the Murtaucci River. "Even the Mari Pintau area is not at all unwelcome to those who mistake their land for a vast potential landfill, as evidenced by a few tons of plasterboard piled at the edge of the path that climbs the hill facing the famous pebble beach."

The overall picture is one of serious damage to an area of significant natural value. The GRIG has submitted an environmental cleanup request to the Municipality of Quartu, the Metropolitan City of Cagliari, and the Forestry Corps, along with a request for inspections.
