The two defendants in the trial in progress at the Nuoro court will be subjected to a psychiatric examination as they are accused of having organized a system of fictitious marriages between Italians and young foreigners who were then initiated into prostitution in the Siniscola area and hinterland.

The single judge Claudia Falchi Delitala has appointed the psychiatrist Mariella Zoncheddu of the Cim of Lanusei to ascertain the ability to understand and will of Fatima Haimer, a 66-year-old Moroccan resident in Baronia for years, and her son Abderrazzak Fliga, 35. Expertise requested by defense lawyers Gianluca Sannio, Giuseppe Casu and Giovanni Atzena and which will be discussed in court on 13 October next.

But there is also a victim at the stand: a 25-year-old Moroccan, niece of Fatima Haimer - assisted by lawyers Stefano Mannironi and Giuseppe Casu - accused of circumvention of incapacity and fraud: once she arrived in Sardinia, she would have taken advantage of the condition of an elderly affection from infirmity, with which she was forced into prostitution, cheating him. According to prosecutor Giorgio Bocciarelli, the young woman would have married in Morocco with a Sardinian from Siniscola with the complicity of her aunt: nothing but a fake marriage, claims the accusation, to facilitate the girl's entry into Italy and then send her to the prostitution.

The investigation had reached its climax with a blitz carried out in Siniscola in 2019.
