On Saturday 7 December at 5 pm, the National Institute of Nuclear Physics and the company Orientare Srl, in collaboration with the cultural association Rosas 1945 Eventi, will inaugurate the scientific exhibition “Einstein Telescope, listening to the universe” in the Centro Polifunzionale Comunale of Nuoro (in via Roma 64). An operation that will see the maximum involvement of the territory, in particular of middle and high schools. The exhibition will end on 6 January 2025.
After the ribbon cutting there will be a conference, moderated by the writer and journalist Stefano Ferri. On stage, after the initial greeting by the extraordinary commissioner of the Municipality of Nuoro Giovanni Pirisi and remotely by the Minister of University and Research Anna Maria Bernini, the president of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) Antonio Zoccoli (to be confirmed) , the president of the Regional Council Piero Comandini and the president of the Region Alessandra Todde will speak.
After the institutional greetings, the promoters of the exhibition will introduce the exhibition route : Alessandro Cardini, director of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) - Cagliari Section; Alessandro D'Ambrosio, administrator and vice president of the company Orientare srl; Fabio Rosas, co-founder of the cultural association Rosas 1945 Eventi.
We will then go into the main aspects of the large research project with the scientific director of Einstein Telescope Italia Domenico D'Urso (University of Sassari) and the value that this important infrastructure could bring to Sardinia (the vast mining complex of Sos Enattos is the site considered ideal to host the Einstein Telescope) and to the municipalities involved, together with the president of ANCI Sardinia and mayor of Fonni Daniela Falconi, and Mario Calìa, mayor of Lula.
In the audience were the deputy Pietro Pittalis, the regional councilor Roberto Deriu, the prefect of Nuoro Alessandra Nigro, the vicar general of the Diocese of Nuoro Don Giuseppe Mattana and numerous mayors of the area.
