The evening of checks by the Carabinieri along the state road 126, in the Gonnesa area, ended with an arrest and a report.

A 37-year-old unemployed man living in Iglesias, already known to law enforcement, was arrested after being found in possession of over 9 grams of cocaine divided into three doses.

The check was triggered when the military personnel from the operational and radiomobile unit of the Iglesias company stopped a Volkswagen Golf with three people on board.

The suspicious behavior of one of the passengers prompted the Carabinieri to conduct a personal search, during which they found the drugs hidden inside the 37-year-old's shoes.

The search then continued at the homes of the individuals involved. In a house in the hamlet of Bacu Abis, the Carabinieri seized a precision scale and two one-gram doses of hashish, and reported a second man, 47, who was also unemployed and already known to the police, at large.

All material was seized, pending further investigation. After the usual formalities, the arrested man was placed under house arrest, as ordered by the Cagliari Public Prosecutor's Office. The validation hearing is scheduled for today.
