An attempt to introduce drugs to the Sassari prison of Bancali was thwarted by the prison police. The agents followed the report of the dog Zoi of the Regional Dog Club: the labrador had targeted a detainee who was then immediately searched but to no avail.

The prosecutor on duty was informed of the operation and the suspect was sent to hospital for further investigations. In this way, three envelopes containing as many eggs with about twenty doses of drugs were recovered.

“Still an excellent job successfully completed - comments Giovanni Villa, regional secretary of Fns Cisl Sardinia -. The Regional Dog Nucleus, despite being understaffed, allows for greater security by counteracting the use and trafficking of drugs in our prisons. An applause also goes to the colleagues who work in Sardinian prisons who never fail to support the Regional Dog Nucleus. Unfortunately, I cannot help but bitterly externalize the Department's remoteness from the problems that affect our Sardinian penitentiary system, especially on the dramatic shortage of Directors, Managers and NCOs. These operations, as well as many others attributable to the service of the prison police - he concludes -, make it clear that resisting continues ”.
