Seven arrests (plus a residence ban) were made this morning by the Carabinieri from the Cagliari provincial command, in the second phase of the anti-drug operation "Termine," which began last October and resulted in 62 personal precautionary measures (of which 50 in prison, nine under house arrest, two orders to remain in residence, and one residence ban).

The names

Pre-trial detention was ordered against Francesco Antonio Busonera (Iglesias, 51), Paolo Loddo (Iglesias, 54), and Valeria Piras (Carbonia, 34). Federico Cualbu, 49, (Girasole), Silvio Loi, 32, (Girasole), Pietro Pinna, 41, (Oschiri), and Antonio Scano , 52, (Iglesias) were placed under house arrest with an electronic bracelet. Klinton Hushi , a 30-year-old Albanian resident of Cascina in the province of Pisa, was also banned from residing in the Sardinia Region. Finally, the judge rejected the request for a precautionary measure against Tommy Garau, from (Sardara), who remains under investigation but without restrictive measures, deeming there to be no need for precautionary measures.

Operation “Termine”

This is a further phase of Operation "Termine," an investigative activity conducted from January 2022 to March 2024 by the Operations and Radiomobile Unit of the Carbonia Carabinieri Company, which has led to the hypothesis of the existence of two Sardinian organizations in contact with alleged Albanian criminals in Tuscany and Veneto. One organization is believed to be of a "traditional" nature, dedicated to sourcing cocaine and heroin from the mainland and selling it to Sardinia. The other is believed to be of an "instrumental" nature, composed of professional, hierarchically organized truck drivers, tasked—according to the hypothesis—with transporting the drugs to Sardinia on their own articulated trucks after receiving them from Albanian suppliers on the mainland. In exchange, they hand over money raised on the island from Sardinian wholesalers to purchase new shipments.

The same investigation also identified the alleged organizers of a kidnapping in Sant'Anna Arresi on April 3, 2023.
The operation as a whole has so far seized: 127 kilos of cocaine, 7 kilos of heroin, 53 kilos of hashish, and one kilo of marijuana. In addition, 47 weapons (hunting rifles, assault rifles, submachine guns, semi-automatic pistols, revolvers, hand grenades, and ammunition of various types and calibers) and €380,000 in cash.
