The disruption caused by water restrictions planned to address the drought in Northwest Sardinia requires a rescheduling of strategic interventions to address the critical issues.
Bonorva Mayor Massimo D'Agostino has initiated discussions with Abbanoa President Giuseppe Sardu regarding the current disruptions affecting the area. "We also agreed on the need to address a serious issue, the restrictions, with equally serious proposals that will initiate strategic interventions capable of permanently resolving the problem."
In this municipality, as in other towns experiencing similar problems, the water shut-off time has been changed to 5 p.m., with the service reactivating at 5 p.m. the following day, starting Wednesday, November 5th. This way, when the water service reopens, the network, including that in the lower-lying neighborhoods, will be filled overnight, allowing the domestic tanks in the higher-lying neighborhoods to be refilled, making them available for use the following day.
"Naturally, for those who don't have tanks, the cistern located in the square is always available, which, if necessary, can be supported by another cistern located elsewhere in the town," the mayor specified.
For "sensitive users," a home distribution plan is ready, implemented through local Civil Protection associations. The request must be submitted to the Municipality's Social Services office, with which the associations will coordinate the activities.
Secondly, we have agreed that Abbanoa will provide, within the limits of its resources and expertise, adequate technical support for independent water supply surveys that the Municipality will conduct in the coming months. In other words, we will seek to understand whether the area is capable of providing stable and long-lasting water reserves, where they are located, and what the financial commitment will be in terms of designing and building water exploration and storage facilities and connecting them to the network.
