Driven by the wind and the waves, he ended up with the catamaran on the coast, running aground.

Fear last night for a 54-year-old German, who was rescued around 8 pm by the Coast Guard in Porto Torres.

The 12-meter sailing boat, the Ava, which left the Balearics and headed for Corsica, ran aground on a shallow seabed in the locality of Minciaredda, near the industrial port.

The patrol boat Cp 810, despite the prohibitive sea conditions, managed to reach the catamaran when it was close to the rocks and thus rescue the sailor.

Today the Captaincy has ascertained the integrity of the hull and the absence of fuel spills into the sea. A specialized company will remove it.
