Terrible nautical accident in the sea off the central-eastern coast of Sardinia.

A man suffered the amputation of a foot while in the water he was freeing the propeller of the catamaran on which he was on board with friends in the waters of La Caletta, in Siniscola from a rope: it is a 37-year-old tourist from the Republic Czech.

According to an initial reconstruction by the Olbia Coast Guard, competent in this stretch of sea, the catamaran was mooring when the rope fell into the water and twisted around the propeller.

The 37-year-old dived to free her, but someone on board inadvertently operated the propeller which entangled the man's foot, cutting it off. The wounded man was transported to the port of La Caletta where the 118 doctors gave him first aid.

Then the transfer by air ambulance to the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari, in the specialist center for amputations.
