"The lowest level of respect for those who donate and distribute food , and for those who truly need it and don't ask, has been reached." This is how Isangela Mascia, mayor of Domusnovas , began her denunciation post, posting on social media the sad image of packets of pasta, jars of sauce, and other canned goods donated to the needy and abandoned in the countryside.

"I apologize to the donors and to the parish Caritas," the mayor continued, referring to the "trampled" generosity of the many who, in the days leading up to Christmas, worked to collect food and make it available to families in need.

"I don't know if I'm more angry or more bitter," Mascia adds, "because the thought that such 'small' people exist is truly sad. I feel sorry for them and their smallness."

The post, in just a few hours, garnered hundreds of comments from outraged citizens, and unfortunately, many are pointing out that this is not the first time such incidents have occurred.
