Indicted for mistreatment of his ex-partner. In recent days, the preliminary hearing judge Gian Paolo Piana ordered a further investigation in the case of a 67-year-old man from Sassari. He is accused of harassing and abusing his ex-partner, including in front of the injured party's son, from 2024 until recently. According to the charges, he refused to allow her to go out without him and, at a certain point, moved into an apartment above the bar she ran in Porto Torres, forcing his presence on her.
“I’ll make you spit blood,” “If you report it, I’ll kick and punch you,” are some of the phrases the man allegedly said to the woman and, on one occasion, he allegedly pointed a knife at her.
The defendant denied all the charges, stating that the apartment above the club had been set up at his own expense to better manage the bar , which, he claimed, he had purchased with his own money at the time.
At the end of the hearing, prosecutor Giovanni Dore had requested a dismissal of the case. Defense lawyers Pier Giovanni Arru and Luigi Esposito had produced a series of documents to prove their client's presumed innocence.
The preliminary hearing judge, however, has decided to commit the case to trial and the trial will be held before Judge Valentina Nuvoli.
