A 73-year-old Spanish woman was arrested at Alghero airport after disembarking from a Ryanair plane from Barcelona with 64 cocaine pellets hidden in her stomach.

The agents of the Alghero police station and the Airport Border Office stopped her for a baggage check. Given the woman's nervousness and some statements that turned out to be untrue, the agents - with the authorization of the Sassari Prosecutor's Office - accompanied the woman to the Alghero hospital to subject her to x-rays , which revealed the presence of the ovules, for a total of 1,150 grams of cocaine.

The seventy-three-year-old was put in handcuffs : the arrest was then validated by the investigating judge of the Sassari court, who also ordered the precautionary measure of prison for the woman, now locked up in the Bancali penitentiary.
