"I'll come back for the beach, but never again to ride my bike. Drivers are out of their minds." This is how Irina Krupovich, with over 60,000 followers on Instagram and a self-described "cycling queen," a true influencer in the cycling world, commented on her visit to Sardinia. Her analysis, accompanied by a video of her and a cycling partner telling each other to fuck off with a female driver , sparked a flood of comments. Today, she returns to the topic and tries to explain.
“I raised a bit of hell in the comments on my last video, so let’s clear some things up,” he begins.
Krupovich, "regarding my comment 'never ride a bike in Sardinia again,'" explains that the island "has incredible potential for year-round cycling. But some roads, and local drivers, still don't take advantage of this opportunity. My criticism isn't against the people or the island, but against the conditions that make some routes unsafe for cyclists."
Having made this clarification, he adds: "Yes, cycling in single lane is essential. But, friends, it's not so simple when drivers don't respect the 1.5-meter distance, don't slow down, or don't pass safely, and it's very dangerous."
And turning to the drivers: "Better to waste 30 seconds than cause a tragedy. And you can politely use your horn to let cyclists know you're behind: this helps them let you pass. It's called sharing the road. Thank you for your patience and respect."
