There is still a boom in anti-Covid vaccines in Sardinia. On the island, from 13 to 19 December, nearly 100 thousand doses were administered, with an increase of about 20 thousand doses compared to the previous week.

The third doses are also running: 85 thousand in the week that has just ended, 17 thousand more than in the previous survey and 358 thousand in total those currently administered.

The first doses are also growing, 6,049 also due to the start of the vaccination campaign in the 5 to 11 year range, which in four days, from Thursday 16 December, recorded over 1,719 pediatric doses of Pfizer serum.

Overall, 2,890,000 doses were administered in Sardinia and approximately 79% of the residents completed the vaccination cycle.

"This new acceleration - declares the president of the Region Christian Solinas - can only be a positive signal at a time when all the forces in the field are committed to stemming the advance of the virus. Covid, in its variants, remains a threat for everyone and getting vaccinated is fundamental, a gesture of love for oneself and of great solidarity towards others. We will continue this battle against the virus with every means at our disposal, always putting the health of Sardinians and in particular of Sardinians in the foreground. more fragile ".

"Undoubtedly the worsening of the general epidemiological picture is worrying", declares the regional councilor for health, Mario Nieddu. "In Sardinia, where hospitalizations continue to remain below the critical threshold, at 5% in intensive care and 7% in the medical area, we are following the situation with the utmost attention. In this scenario, the increase in the number of vaccinated people and the strengthening vaccination coverage for those who have already completed their cycle can only be an asset and our health system, in this sense, continues to respond efficiently to a campaign that is unprecedented in terms of commitment and proportions ".
