A possibility opens up for the awarding of the maritime connection service between Porto Torres and the island of Asinara. The procedure initiated by the Sardinia Region ended, with the deadline expiring on 27 May, with nothing done regarding lots 1 and 2, relating to the connections between La Maddalena and Palau, and the section between Carloforte and island of San Pietro. While for lot number 3, i.e. the Porto Torres-Cala Reale line, an offer was probably presented.

The determination published by the Region for the concession of the public maritime transport service of passengers, vehicles and goods for the territorial continuity between Sardinia and the smaller islands does not provide information on Asinara, leaving open the possibility that it was presented an offer.

Currently the service is carried out by way of exception by the company led by Franco Del Giudice until June 30th with the motor vessel "Sara D". The tender, if awarded, would guarantee the transport with a ship with a capacity of 200 passengers in the period from May to September and 50 vehicles in the garage. The budget foreseen for Asinara is 15.622 million euros for six years (2.603 for each year).
