Carbonia ranks last in Italy for climate-related living conditions: it ranks 107th in the ranking of provincial capitals. This is the verdict of research conducted by experts at 3B Meteo on behalf of Il Sole 24 Ore, which is based on trends in 15 parameters , including rainfall intensity, number of tropical nights (those where the minimum never drops below 20 degrees Celsius), extreme heat, occasional summer breezes, wind gusts, and relative humidity.
The "capital" of Sulcis is paying the price for being among the cities that experience extreme heat and only a few cold days with persistent rain. It should be noted that the analysis covers 2025 and therefore does not take into account the rainfall anomaly recorded in early 2026, which affected the entire island.
At the top of the ranking are three cities (or capitals) that overlook the Adriatic: Bari in the lead, followed by Bat (Barletta-Andria-Trani) and in third place Pescara.
To find another Sardinian city, you have to go to thirty-third place, where Cagliari is located. Nuoro and Sassari rank 41st and 42nd, respectively. Oristano stops at sixty-first.
