«We will never go back to Città 30, Salvini let us do our job as mayors» .

Clear message from the mayor of Olbia Settimo Nizzi to the Minister of Transport. The mayor of FI spoke via video link at the meeting on Città 30 organized in Bologna by the centre-left mayor Metteo Lepore , on the day in which the ministry attacks him again, asking him to adapt to the directives of the MIT, according to which the limit of 30 km per hour should only be placed in well-defined areas and the exception to the limit of 50 that applies in cities must be justified.

Nizzi, the first to create a City 30 in Italy, invited his colleague from Bologna to move forward.

«We will never go back, someone else will have to come to govern Olbia to go back», his words, « the people here, after a month of perplexity, have calmed down and appreciated ».

«The MIT – he added – must make good laws, but let us do the job as mayors and decide how our communities should live. I went all the way because 30 is the right amount, I invite all the other mayors not to go back ." The request to Salvini is to "sit around a table and talk to us mayors who know how to do our job well".

The invitation to the mayor of Bologna: «Go ahead, these measures have no political colour, it is the citizens who are asking us to slow down the cars ». Finally, a suggestion on signs: "Horizontal signs should be encouraged, no one looks at vertical ones."
