Castelsardo mourns Susanna Pernici, who died at 24 after two failed heart transplants

The community of Castelsardo was shocked by the tragic news of the death of 24-year-old Susanna Pernici , who had been suffering from heart disease for some time. She had been admitted to the San Raffaele hospital in Milan awaiting a transplant that, however, had no positive outcome, a second operation after a first unsuccessful attempt.

Then the wait for another heart, but in the meantime the girl's health conditions worsened following a cerebral hemorrhage . The doctors declared brain death, throwing the family and the entire community of Castelsardo into despair. The young woman had suffered from heart problems since adolescence. The municipal administration led by the mayor, Maria Lucia Tirotto, cancelled all events scheduled until the day of the funeral, scheduled for Saturday 21 September .
