The tourist village of Castelsardo ended up among the thirty most fascinating seaside resorts in Italy . This is how the city of the Dorias was classified by Travelmag.com, the international portal in English, specialized in the travel sector which has enhanced holiday sites, including the seaside resort in north-west Sardinia.

«Perched on a volcanic promontory on the northern coast of Sardinia, Castelsardo is a municipality with two distinctive identities. The medieval quarter is a colorful labyrinth of sloping alleys that descend below the immense Doria Castle and its ramparts, which now houses the Mediterranean Weave museum». This is the description that appeared on the site which used some requirements to draw up the ranking.

Not only was it collecting feedback from a range of local specialists , such as bloggers, writers and photographers, but in order to be included, each city had to have a population of at least 1,000 and less than 30,000 people .

In addition, entries were limited to three for each region, to ensure that the best of Italy's historically overlooked regions could feature alongside the usual suspects. Finally, some " hidden gems " have been added to the mix: beach resorts that allow visitors to avoid the usual tourist traps and slip into a slower pace of life.
