Yet another pine tree has fallen in the center of Carbonia. More trees fell today due to weakening soil and strong winds. There's a lot of concern over the fallen pine tree in Piazza del Minatore, right in the center of town.

The area, often frequented by children and families, was fortunately empty at the time of the tree fall. Immediately after the report, firefighters from the Via Roma detachment and a local police patrol arrived on the scene and proceeded to cordon off the area while the tree was cut down and removed from the center of the square.

Mayor Pietro Morittu and maintenance councilor Giuseppe Casti were on site. Meanwhile, other pine trees have fallen in the Costa Medau Becciu area and one on private land on Via Dalmazia.
