Also in Carbonia green light for an intervention for the reconstruction of the network connections , to avoid water dispersion of the largest inhabited center of Sulcis, for a cost of 630 thousand euros .

Egas, the government body of the Sardinian area, has given the green light to the project in the Carbonia area drawn up by the technicians of Abbanoa SpA, manager of the water service . The municipal urban water network serves around 30,000 inhabitants and has an overall length of around 101 km . The efficiency measures, over the years, have been carried out with nodular cast iron pipes, but there is still a percentage, albeit minimal, to be replaced as it is made of plastic material in a precarious state of conservation .

The approved project concerns the interventions envisaged by Lot B: the works fall within the inhabited center and have as their objective the redevelopment of the water network, by means of the reconstruction, in this case, of the connections from the main pipes to the various users. The works will affect Via Gallura, Via Romagna, Via Lucania, Via Domenico Millelire, Via Risorgimento, Via Cannas, Via Marche and Via Veneto. Approximately one hundred and fifty days will be needed, according to an estimate by the technicians, for the completion of the work which will be financed entirely by Egas from the FSC 2014-2020 "Fund for Development and Cohesion".

«Thanks to EU funding we are finally able to plan interventions, such as that of Carbonia, to try to reduce as much as possible the phenomenon of water dispersion in the centers of Sardinia - commented the President of Egas Fabio Albieri - a serious burden for our territory and for the environment more generally, which is why we must undertake every initiative aimed at finding decisive and immediate solutions to contain the effects".
