An argument over the queue at the supermarket checkout turned into a brutal beating: a seventy-two year old from Brescia has a reserved prognosis for a head injury, another 65 year old man suffered some bruises. There is still no trace of the attacker although the scene of violence was noticed by several customers.

The aggression

It was above all Tullio Cattaneo, 72 years old, who paid the price, hospitalized with a reserved prognosis at the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari. He is under observation in a vigilant condition. Based on the reconstruction of the facts which, however, requires further investigation (the investigations are the responsibility of the police who intervened on the spot), he and a friend aged around 65 two evenings ago were inside the Lidl market, on the northern outskirts of the city. Approaching the crates with the goods, an argument would have arisen with one or more people, it seems, so the military found out, over respect for the queue. Perhaps one word too many, perhaps too much nervousness and the discussion would have degenerated not inside the shopping center (the security guards would have nipped it in the bud) but in the car parks. And here the physical attack would have occurred. Not just big words, but heavy pushing and some blows.

The wounds

It is not clear whether the 72-year-old pensioner sustained his head injuries by falling or as a result of a punch or kick. The fact is that both he and the other tourist were accompanied by the Solky ambulance to the nearby Sirai hospital. For the transport they both boarded the same ambulance, one in yellow code and the other in red. But around midnight Tullio Cattaneo's condition began to worsen and the doctors deemed it appropriate to arrange for his transfer to Brotzu in Cagliari. The man has been intubated, his condition is stationary.

The investigations

The police are investigating the matter. Radiomobile soldiers intervened at the scene of the beating. The investigations are underway. Investigators are working to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the attack to identify the person responsible. Some employees of the shopping center have been questioned, but for the moment no other details have been revealed about what happened in the car park.
