It is an extraordinary announcement, the one that Forza Italia MP Ugo Cappellacci makes through his Instagram page: the imminent arrival of a drug capable of avoiding transfusions for thalassemia sufferers .

«I had an extraordinary meeting with representatives of a pharmaceutical industry», explains the former president of the Region. «They updated me on the state of the art of their studies and research. The extraordinary news is that they are completing the process for the marketing of a drug, born from the research that saw the Nobel Prize awarded to two researchers four years ago. The theme", continues Cappellacci, "is that of thalassemia, which kills so much in Sardinia. This drug will totally change the lives of thalassemia patients , allowing them to live carrying out all the activities that many have given up: sometimes they are unable to withstand efforts and do sports."

Then he adds: «Above all, with a one-off administration, there will be the possibility of eliminating the slavery of transfusions . It is an extraordinary discovery and would be an extraordinary achievement. We still take it with the benefit of inventory but I am reasonably certain that this will be the case shortly. I asked this company", concludes the parliamentarian, "to be able to hold a presentation event in Sardinia , in the land so severely affected by this problem".
