Still stranded a few meters from the beach of Capo Sant'Elia the two fishing boats flying the Egyptian flag pushed by the current while, trying to reach the port of Cagliari, they tried to shelter from the rough sea by approaching the coast.

The Port Authority is constantly monitoring the situation from the ground and with the patrol boats. There are no fuel spills or pollution.

Le operazioni di soccorso

On board were nine Egyptian sailors (and not Tunisians as initially learned): rescued, they all have passports and regular documents and employment contracts as fishermen. They have been refreshed and are now waiting to get back to work. The Harbor Master's Office has started the investigations to shed full light on the shipwreck.

The boats had approached the coast to take shelter from the rough sea and thus be able to enter the port but, having passed Capo Sant'Elia, they were pushed by the current and the wind until they ran aground near the beach in front of a well-known restaurant.

The Coast Guard has contacted the shipowner to send means to free the two fishing boats.
