It was supposed to be a simple sit-in , a moment of reflection and silent testimony, but it soon turned into a procession through the streets of the city centre.
This evening, pro-Palestine activists gathered in Cagliari to show solidarity with the people of Gaza, marching chanting "Free Palestine, Free Gaza."
The rally started with a few dozen people , but the number of participants grew over the course of the evening, when several citizens spontaneously joined the demonstration in Piazza Garaibaldi.
The protest is proceeding peacefully, but with a heated and determined tone . Activists reiterated their stance against the violence in the Middle East, calling for an immediate ceasefire and recognition of the rights of the Palestinian people. Meanwhile, another demonstration is planned for tomorrow evening, coinciding with the arrival of the Freedom Flotilla in Gaza.
