The pollution control vessel at the port of Cagliari is being replaced. The vessel will be replaced in the coming days, moving from the current Punta Izzo vessel to Capo Sant'Elia, which has already arrived on site for the necessary operational handover. This is an intervention by the Castalia company, which has been involved in marine pollution prevention and control for years under a concession granted to the Ministry of the Environment.

The new vehicle, more recently built and with advanced technical features, is capable of guaranteeing superior performance and greater effectiveness than its predecessor. It has improved features and technical instrumentation, and is almost double the size: 42 meters in length, allowing it to operate in even harsher conditions in the event of an emergency .

Responsibility for managing any marine pollution incidents is assigned by law to the Port Authority , and the Cagliari Port Authority will now include Capo Sant'Elia among its vessels. "The Cagliari Maritime Directorate and its peripheral branches welcome the arrival of the new vessel, knowing that it undoubtedly represents an added value in terms of efficiency and timeliness in responding to potential environmental emergencies, benefiting the community and protecting the sea."
