Extraordinary checks continue in the so-called "red zone" in Cagliari.
Between last night and last night , more than 30 people were identified and six foreigners were removed from the area for violating the prefect's order. All are already known to law enforcement: a 43-year-old Senegalese man residing in Selargius, a 25-year-old Guinean man residing in Nuoro, a 30-year-old French Guiana man residing in Cagliari, a 38-year-old Somali man, a 26-year-old Gambian man, and a 27-year-old Guinean man, the latter two homeless.
A thirty-year-old Senegalese man who had already been expelled returned to the area and was reported at large. Two Tunisian men, aged 24 and 30, were caught loitering on the grounds of a house, taking advantage of the owners' absence. One of them was found in possession of a small quantity of hashish.
The enhanced protection zone is in force until February 28 in areas that have often been affected by episodes of degradation and petty crime: in the areas of Piazza del Carmine, Via Sassari, Piazza Matteotti and the adjacent Viale La Playa .
