In recent days, the Flying Squad of the provincial police headquarters, as part of an operation aimed at combating crime and drug dealing in Piazza del Carmine , arrested four people.

The officers, stationed in the area, observed and documented several drug dealing incidents before intervening and arresting the dealers, three Algerians and a Tunisian, all legally registered in the country .

The searches led to the seizure of approximately 100 grams of the drug and 300 oxycodone pills , intended for sale in Piazza del Carmine. The abuse of this extremely dangerous drug, which is popular in the United States, is a phenomenon now emerging in Cagliari, especially among young people .

The Police Headquarters operation, which was part of the extraordinary checks in the red zone established in September 2025 to ensure greater security and combat urban decay and petty crime, involved investigators from the Flying Squad, staff from the Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue with patrol car crews, Crime Prevention Unit operators, drug-sniffing canine units, and Administrative Police personnel.
