A sit-in organized by NurSind, the union of the nursing professions, and which involved all workers to protest "against the decay of assistance caused by the overcrowding of the wards, the hospitalization of patients in the corridors, medicine shops, and the third bed in the room".

This morning, the workers of the Aou of Cagliari met in front of the hospital to ask the top management of the company to resolve the numerous and long-standing problems that "do not allow a peaceful performance of the work - say the union - and jeopardize the patient health ".

THE PROTEST - In the protest poster signed by NurSind - USB (basic union union) we read the reasons that led to this morning's sit-in: among others the overloading of the Emergency Department and the stationing of Covid patients positive to his internal, contraction of nurses and social health workers in staffing supplies, absence of safety conditions for patients and workers and the exponential increase in Covid positives.

"We are here to protest in front of the Duilio Casula hospital, due to the decay of assistance that is taking place within this company", explains Christian Cugusi, manager of NurSind Aou Cagliari.

"Among the many reasons listed above - he continues - I would like to underline the allocation of Covid patients, we also have 20 positive patients in the wards: this is because the Covid facilities are saturated. With the increase in positive patients and infections, hospitals do not -Covid suffer from this crowding. The Emergency Department, the same as above, must manage 18-20 Covid patients at the same time and all without adequate bio-containment areas. Thus the contagion occurs. We ask the Company not to wait for the actions of the Region, given that in two years we have not seen any measures put in place to improve the situation. The Company should create a Covid or bio-containment area to manage positive patients separately from others ".
