"Transparent Construction Sites": this is the name of the protocol approved by the Cagliari City Council, which imposes "a set of mandatory minimum standards aimed at improving communication with citizens about construction sites that involve the occupation of or interventions on public land."
How long will it last? For what purpose? And what will the improvements be? The Municipality is talking about clearer rules for interventions on "roads, sidewalks, and public spaces, ensuring easily readable information on the nature of the work, the parties carrying it out, and the expected benefits for the community."
The protocol calls for the installation of additional informational signage that complements, but does not replace, the requirements already established by current legislation . The new signs must ensure simpler and more effective communication, with clear information about the client, the contractor, the purpose of the work, and, where applicable, QR codes that provide access to additional information and updates.
Specific urban decorum measures are also envisaged for longer-term construction sites, with the aim of reducing the visual impact of the areas affected by the works and improving the perceived quality of public space during the works.
